The Bizarre House Hosts a Benefit to Support ICE Raid Victims in Florida
The Bizarre House, located in Orlando, Florida, hosted an amazing house show on June 27th as a benefit to support those who have been negatively affected by Trump’s ICE raids targeting hardworking immigrants in America.
The show’s lineup consisted of four bands: Plazas, Mars Shotgun, Default Friends, and Burning Glass. Together, these bands brought an exciting crowd ready to dance and, most importantly, support the cause.
The crowd did not come to relax. Between their moshing and tearing down tree branches while crowd surfing, the crowd was anything but boring. The atmosphere was energetic and exciting, which fueled the bands to put on great shows. Even with the show getting rained out and shut down by noise complaints in the end, the Bizarre House team, bands, and crowd came up with solutions to keep the show going.
After the event, I had the opportunity to briefly sit down and talk with the Bizarre House owners themselves. Cesar and Danny are the creators of “Bizarre,” a promoting/hosting company in Orlando, Florida.
“The Bizarre House moves. This is Bizarre House 3.0. This is the third house we’ve lived in and the third house we’ve thrown shows at,” Cesar stated, “The Bizarre House is more of a concept, really. It’s just bringing people together for a show, you know, just a community for music, for art, for love.”
The house itself is a real house that Danny and Cesar live in together. Every time Bizarre hosts a show, they clear out their house to make room for all the guests and bands.
“Our first show happened at the first house we lived in when we were moving out, and this is kind of the same situation where we’re both leaving this house,” Cesar explained.
The timing worked out well for Danny and Cesar, considering the weather caused the show to be moved indoors. Since they sold all their furniture for the move, there was plenty of free space inside the house.
“As long as you got four walls, a ceiling, and a door, and a passion and love for art and music and your community, that’s a bizarre house,” Danny stated.
Guests had to pay $10 at the door for the show. All of that money was donated to FLIC, or Florida Immigrant Coalition.
“We originally planned for this last show to be free for the community and for the scene, but when we saw what was happening, we thought ‘Hey, if we’re going to make any money at all, let’s have every single dollar go to this cause and try to improve the things that are happening,” Cesar explained.
Danny and Cesar have never done these shows for the money. They’ve always either made their shows free to attend or donated the proceeds to a good cause to help the community.
“We truly do not give a fuck about the money. Money does not matter to us. We just want the community. And we’re fortunate enough to be in this situation,” Cesar explained.
The Bizarre House shows are about love, passion, and community. Danny and Cesar welcome anyone and everyone to shows; however, Danny has one strict rule.
“If you are MAGA, fuck you. We do not want you at our shows.”
Danny and Cesar are passionate about their community and are vocal about their opinions on Trump and his administration. They don’t want people who support Trump, an anti-community dictator, to attend their shows.
After this show, the Bizarre House is taking a hiatus as it moves to South Florida. Danny and Cesar plan to expand and host more shows in South Florida when the time comes.
